The Vanderbilt Conservatory-for my Aunts

In my opinion the best part of the entire tour were the gardens.  Here is one very small part  with lots of flowers for my aunts.
It is actually much larger than what you see here...with wings that go off in both directions.

The first thing I noticed when I walked in the door was the heady scent of flowers.  No plug-in atomizer will come close to the delicate mixture wafting through this conservatory.

Small fountains throughout created a calming atmosphere....

These orchids made me think of mother.  She would have loved this collection.

Especially these little guys.  I had to check to make sure they were real.

And finally, the tulips.  Most of the blooms were gone already because of the really warm winter but they were still lovely.

  2. Toni,
I too am following your entries day by day and enjoying every one. The pictures are just great. What kind of camera do you use? Any kind of photoshop program?
A bunch of us are getting together tonight at the comedy club -- about 30 or so, most of whom you know. We'll be thinking of you, and hoping you're having a great time, far away in the East.
