The Big Day

When the Minnesota Larsons heard that Donald would be visiting they began to talk about a 'get-together',  which morphed into a 'family-do', and finally materialized as an official 'Larson Ice Cream Social and Reunion'...

It's pretty impressive that, with little advance notice and very little time, over 40 Larsons found their way to a classic old hotel in the tiny town of Anoka to greet each other and to shake Don's hand.

But then, again, the Larsons in Minnesota are about as plentiful as, well...politicians on TV right now. You almost can't avoid them.

Cousins, aunts, uncles, doctors, preachers, actors, and more; with enough small-town stories to keep Garrison Keillor on the air another 20 years.

The Brothers, 'Friend'.  (Hazel Larsons' family)

Over and over I heard, "We must do this more often!"

And I agree, this is such a lively, lovely family it would be a shame if all these cousins grew up and moved away without getting to know each other better.

Donna Mae (in pink blouse) and Janice Mulfinger (glasses on her head) were instrumental in pulling it all together.  They did an amazing job and deserve all kinds of kudos. Jan Mulfinger made jars of Mil Middleton's Hot Fudge Sauce and we all left with a jar of it.  It is so good and now you can try it too:

Mil's Hot Fudge Sauce

1 cup sugar
1/2 cup milk
1 sq baking chocolate or 1/4 c. dry cocoa
1/4 c. butter or Crisco
1 tsp vanilla
Mix all ingredients (except the vanilla) together in a saucepan over med to med-high heat.  Bring to a boil and let boil for 1 minute.  Remove from heat and add the vanilla.  Best served warm.

Why am I sitting in a corner biting my nails? (I think I was counting the calories on that hot fudge sundae I had just eaten.)

The cousins...Al Smith, Chuck Friend, Don Larson, Mike Middleton, Calvin Larson, Wanda Hegstrom and Joann Hill (sisters), Donna Mae Reishus, and Jan Mulfinger.  All descendants of
Amelia and Ludwig Larson.

And finally, the guy that started the ball rolling--Donald Larson.  Good Show!
