Surrender Field at Yorktown

The official surrender of the battle of Yorktown was signed in the Moore House, which still stands today.

This monument was erected on the field where the Surrender of Arms actually occurred.

The following quotations are on the walls inside the monument and are very telling of the emotions that occurred that day.

The following quotes are from diaries of the events of those few days. The red backgrounds are by the British and the Blue are the Americans.

This fencing marks the area where the British filed in and laid down their arms.

Once more there is the reminder that the French were there for us.
